HERCULES: WHO AM I?

Image
It is not uncommon to find many adults who think that animation movies are childish. I particularly have many people around me who show no interest in animations; they see it as yesterday’s fun, something that they have outgrown today. I am an adult who enjoys the beauty of the art of animations and haven’t outgrown animations. There is really nothing childish about enjoying a unique and spectacular way of telling stories, the captivating scenery of creatures who are made to look like real humans and animals but do not have the limitations that we have. They could walk on water, fly without wings and do all manner of things that sometimes remind us of how limitless we truly are if we think outside the box and realize how powerful we are. I will not outgrow Disney movies like Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Tarzan and many others. I love Shrek, Frozen, Inside Out and Chicken Run but my favorite still remains Hercules. Hercules helped me discover the greatest thing about success; the disc

THE PROPOSAL

In the middle of the night, Bimpe rose from her bed, pacing the floor, deep in thought. She had been troubled since she listened to a message preached by the late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya titled ‘How to tell I am in love.’ Listening to that message was actually a coincidence. She had intended to listen to John Legend’s ‘All of me’ but she coincidentally clicked on the message and decided to listen to it. In her sermon, Pastor Bimbo talked about the difference between love and a crush; and how important it was for a man and a lady in a relationship to define their relationship. She went on to advise any lady involved in a relationship that had not been defined to take a bold step and ask her partner what the relationship meant to him.  Her message touched Bimpe’s heart, opened her eyes and brought up so many questions about her relationship with Deji, it needed to be defined. She had been in a deep stable romantic relationship with Deji for about three years but she was yet to f

OLD MAN'S TALE-4

EPISODE 4              “Yes, go to Africa and enjoy the beautiful culture and heritage of Africa.”  Mary smiled as she pondered on his words. He wasn’t different from his kind that regards Africa, a big and populous continent as a country. Why would he tell her to go to Africa like Africa was a small country? Why didn’t he mention a specific country? Her country, Nigeria, a populous country with diverse cultures and tribes is as big as a continent. No one needed to be told that such a magnificent continent shouldn’t be called a country. She believed it was just sarcasm. But she decided to smile as she said, “Old man, you know I am an African lady.”              “That doesn’t mean you know Africa. Many Africans are yet to realise the beauty in Africa. I would have loved to travel to many more Africa countries than I did, but my blurred vision and weak muscles hindered me. I blamed myself after all. Why didn’t I choose

OLD MAN'S TALE-3

EPISODE 3              “Yeah, I was involved in a ghastly accident with my brother and his friends. I was the only survivor.” Peter sighed. “How I survived the accident was a mystery, till now it is still a mystery. I was found lying unconscious far away from the burnt vehicle. No burns on my body, except for the swollen skin on my left hand. Then there was speculation that I must have jumped out of the vehicle before it exploded. But I just can’t explain what happened; I could only recall that I was listening attentively to a country music by Nick Collins before the ugly incidence.             “That must have been a miracle,” Mary held his hand in hers. “That you survived the ghastly accident is a miracle.”             “Miracle?” There was doubt in Peter’s face. “How I wish the same miracle had saved my only brother’s life.” He sighed before he added. “Here is another lesson, Mary, party but don’t party too much.”

OLD MAN'S TALE-2

EPISODE 2      “Mary, don’t ever wish to be someone else. No matter how hard you try, you can’t be successful when you try to be someone else. Figure out what you want to be in life and try to live your life.” Peter took a deep breath before he continued. “I wasted ten years of my life trying to be someone else. I wanted to be like Joseph Jones, my late brother. He was a fantastic actor. He was popular and he won many awards including Grammy and Oscar.” Peter took a deep breath again before he continued. “His fame, money and women made me wish I was him. I abandoned my painting and I followed his luxurious lifestyle.” Peter suddenly shut his eyes. After he refused to let them opened, Mary grabbed his hand and he opened them.             “Are you alright?” Mary asked with concern.             “I am good,” Peter replied quickly. “Mary, I think I want to lie on my back,” he said, Mary rushed to his aid. Peter stared into space for a while before he continued, “I started follo
